Charlie, Parent Mentor

Hello, I'm Charlie. I offer Mindful Parent mentoring packages. I also run monthly workshops for parents and occasional retreats and restorative yoga for parents.

My business, Nurture Well-being is a tapestry of the many threads of knowledge and experience I have gained throughout my career.  I weave my years of experience working with children and families, with my years of practicing yoga and mindfulness and creating a self-care routine.  Adding my knowledge of child development theory from my qualifications in early years and Montessori and Steiner teaching, and my knowledge of yoga and mindfulness, birth and postnatal care, to create a unique style of parent mentoring, which I call “Mindful Parent”.  My Mindful Parent packages support parents to reduce stress and overwhelm and parent calmly, consciously and mindfully.

In addition to Nurture Well-being, I am part of two other businesses.  The Nurtured Peach Mum's Hub and HARE CIC Forest School. I also run a blog about outdoor family adventures called Vanalam Adventures.  You can find more information about these by clicking on the links here or below.

Outside of work I love being outdoors with my family and developing joy and mindfulness in my own life. You can read more about me and why I started this business at the bottom of this page.  Follow me on Instagram or Facebook to find out more.

The Nurtured Peach Mum's Hub

A facebook group for Mums and monthly online workshops aimed at reducing burnout through health & well-being practices, with a community of like-minded Mums.

Hi! I'm Charlie, Mum, step-mum and wife.  I am a vocalist in a band and I love practicing yoga and meditation.  I love gardening, growing veg, being in nature and the outdoors, walking and going on outdoor adventures and camping with my family.  I aim to live a healthy, natural and sustainable life with my family, parenting consciously and mindfully.

I am a Montessori Teacher, Birth Doula, Antenatal Teacher and Yoga Teacher and Parent Mentor.

My company, Nurture Well-being offers Mindful Parent Mentoring packages to help bring calm, peace, joy and well-being to your whole family.  I also offer monthly online group workshops for Mums, with my lovely friend Becca who is a postnatal doula.  You can find these in our Facebook Group The Nurtured Peach Mum's Community Hub.

When I’m not working with parents online, I work with local families in The Forest of Dean where I run HARE CIC with my awesome colleagues, Susie, Tanya and Georgie.  We run Forest school sessions incorporating mindfulness and creativity, with the aim of improving family well-being.

In all my work, whether with children or parents, I aim to develop a sense of calm, mindfulness, self-esteem and confidence and to reduce stress, overwhelm, worry and anxiety.

As a Mum of two children and two step-children (one adult daughter and three teenage boys), I've had my fair share of sleepless nights, fussy food fads, tantrums and behaviours to manage. As well as my own family, I have cared for and taught hundreds of children of all ages from newborns to teens during the first 25 years of my career.

I worked in international Montessori schools, Pre-Schools, youth groups, as a Nanny and in early years and daycare settings.  I ran a successful daycare nursery, forest school, pre-school and holiday club setting, which was graded Outstanding by Ofsted.  I worked as a maternity nanny, supporting mother's during pregnancy and the postnatal period and I also worked in children's social care for three years, supporting families through extremely difficult times.

I have worked in various voluntary roles, including scouting, youth work and for a community woodland charity running family outdoor education days.  I worked part time on a postnatal hospital ward.  I was on the committee of my local NCT group, supporting families with young babies and running nearly new sales.  I also spent many years running parent & baby/toddler groups.

I have many year's of experience with day-to-day parenting, and common issues, such as sleep, feeding, toilet training, behaviour and education.  Some of the children I taught or cared for in my early career, now have their own children. Others are at college or university.

In more recent years, I worked in children's social care, offering parenting advice, emotional support and advocating for parents who felt unheard. I worked predominantly with women and children who had experienced domestic abuse or parents who were working through addiction.  I witnessed first-hand how stressed, drained and burnt out parents can become through lack of appropriate, nurturing support and community, when going through difficult or traumatic times.

This inspired me to train as a family yoga and meditation teacher, so that I could use these techniques to help women and children manage and begin to heal from emotional trauma and move on with their lives. I have practiced yoga for over 20 years and it has helped me in so many ways, physically, mentally and emotionally.  Yoga and mindfulness helped me recover from an abusive marriage, over a decade ago, so I knew it could also help others through difficult times.  After completing the Yoga Alliance 95 hour Children's Yoga Teacher Training, and a Diploma in Mindfulness for Children, I began to offer family yoga classes and therapeutic yoga for parents and families I was working with.

When I saw the difference yoga and mindfulness made to families, I wanted to share it more widely, to enable more families to benefit, so I created Nurture Well-being and began offering children and family yoga classes.  I enjoyed this work so much that I continued my training, completing Yoga Alliance 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training.

Having loved my previous work as a maternity nanny and feeling passionate about supporting birthing families, I completed Yoga Alliance 85 Hour Prenatal Yoga and DONA Birth Doula training, which included Antenatal Teacher training.  This enabled me to support families through each stage of their parenting journey.

My business, Nurture Well-being is a tapestry of the many threads of knowledge and experience I have gained throughout my career.  I weave my years of experience working with children and families, with my years of practicing yoga and mindfulness and creating a self-care routine.  Adding my knowledge of child development theory from my trainings in early years and Montessori and Steiner teaching, and my knowledge of yoga and mindfulness, birth and postnatal care, to create a unique style of parent mentoring, which I call “Mindful Parent”.  My Mindful Parent packages support parents to reduce stress and overwhelm and enable them to parent calmly, consciously and mindfully.
